Straight talk on the numbers: your truck's rating is the manufacturer's, and it varies by engine, cab and axle — the exact figure is on your driver's-door sticker. Trailer weights use each model's typical GVWR (its maximum loaded weight — the honest way to size a tow vehicle); the exact GVWR is on the trailer's VIN plate, and we'll read it with you on the lot. Louisiana requires brakes on trailers rated 3,000 lbs or more — every tandem-axle trailer we sell has them. Keep tongue weight around 10–15% of trailer weight and inside your truck's payload.
