MAXX-D ROX Roll-Off Explained: One Trailer, Many Bins
Where the roll-off fits on our lot
Start with what is real this week at 2601 SE Evangeline Thruway. The dump trailer on the ground is a Falcon 16-foot tandem-axle, 14,000 lb GVWR, 3-foot sides. Load Trail is on the lot too: a CH202 tandem-axle equipment trailer with a 14,000 lb GVWR and 5-foot dove, a 102x30 Low-Pro gooseneck rated 30K, and a 72x10 utility. A Load Trail DL dump is a factory order through us.
MAXX-D is new. We signed on as a MAXX-D dealer in September 2026, the first units are on the way, and none has landed yet. Everything below comes from MAXX-D's roll-off pages and warranty, linked at the bottom; when ours arrive we will film a bin going on and off and post scale weights.
One trailer, many bins
A conventional dump trailer is one bed welded to one frame. The Load Trail DL, for example, is a 10-gauge smooth-plate bed with 24-inch sides and a scissor hoist under it; the bed goes everywhere the axles go. If a job needs a container on site for a week, the trailer sits there for a week, and so does the money you paid for it.
A roll-off separates the two. The trailer is a bare tilting deck with rails, a hoist, and a winch. The bin (MAXX-D calls it a dumpster) is a separate steel box you can leave behind. Drop bin one at a remodel in Youngsville, drop bin two at a rental cleanout in Carencro, and come back with the empty trailer when they are full. MAXX-D's pitch is exactly that: "multiple roll-off dumpsters can be dropped in different locations," all serviced by one base trailer, built for "contractors, waste haulers, and small businesses" who want to "haul, dump, and reload without switching trailers." One tow vehicle, one trailer, as many bins as your business can keep full.
Winch roll-off vs hook-lift: what the ROX actually is
A hook-lift is the truck-mounted arm you see on commercial roll-off trucks: a hydraulic arm hooks a bar on the front of the container and lifts it aboard. A winch roll-off, which is what most trailer-based systems are, uses a tilting deck and a cable instead.
The ROX is the second kind. MAXX-D's page says it pairs a "heavy-duty scissor lift and hydraulic hoist" with "a steep 45-degree dumping angle" and "a specially-chosen 22K Warrior power winch system to easily load and unload your dumpsters." Here is the sequence, in general terms, until we can film ours:
- Drop. Back up to where the bin will live, raise the deck, and pay the winch cable out. The bin rolls down the rails until its back end is on the ground; ease back until it is fully off, unhook, and drive away.
- Pick up. Reverse the process: raise the deck, hook the cable to the bin, and let the winch pull it up the rails until it seats. Lower the deck, latch, tarp, go.
- Dump. With the bin on the trailer, the same hoist tips the whole thing to 45 degrees at the landfill.
The deck is bare on purpose; the option sheet lists "no floor" and "no dovetail/no ramps" as standard because the bin is the floor. A pull-back tarp and a wireless remote are standard, with a flip-over tarp kit and a 7-watt solar panel optional.
Bin sizes and what fits on which trailer
MAXX-D sells two roll-off trailers, and the difference is mostly which bins they carry.

The bins are 10-gauge steel with solid sides, and you pick their color separately from the trailer: Wet Black standard, eight more factory colors optional. For a rental startup that means bins in your company color without a paint shop.
Two honest notes. First, MAXX-D publishes bin volume but not trailer or bin empty weight, so there is no payload figure yet; whatever the trailer and bin weigh together comes off the 14,000 lb, and we will scale ours the day they land. Second, 13 cubic yards is a junk-and-brush number, not a dirt number. Wet Vermilion Parish clay runs roughly a ton and a half a yard, so a 13-yard bin of it would weigh more than the trailer's whole rating. The ROX is for demolition debris, shingles, household junk, storm limbs, and packaging. If wet dirt is your daily load, read our dump trailer size guide and buy a fixed-bed dump instead.
Who buys a roll-off in Acadiana
Remodel and roofing contractors. You are paying a rental company to drop a dumpster at every job and calling them about pickup. With a ROX and two bins you drop your own, on your schedule, and the empty one is waiting when the full one leaves.
Rental-property owners and cleanout crews. Evictions, inherited houses, and storm-damaged units produce a bin of junk in a day. Leave it, let the crew fill it, haul it full.
Junk removal and dumpster-rental startups. This is the customer MAXX-D built it for: a bin sitting in a Broussard driveway for a week is a service people pay for. Start with one trailer and two bins, and add bins as they stay rented.
Tree service and hurricane cleanup. After a storm, one bin fills with limbs on site while the trailer is at the landfill with the other. Stage the tarp, straps, and a spare winch cable before June, not after the cone drops.
Who should skip it. A crew that hauls dirt one day and a skid steer the next is better served by a fixed-bed dump or a tilt. So is anyone whose bin would never leave the trailer; that is a dump with extra steps.
Contractor payback: a worked example
Here is the math a Lafayette remodeling contractor would run. Every input is an assumption and labeled as one; swap in your own numbers and check two local rental quotes and the landfill's current gate rate before you decide.
Assumptions
- A1. Rental dumpster today: a 15-yard drop with a 7-day rental, one haul, and 2 tons included, at $450 per drop.
- A2. Job volume: 4 drops a month across 11 working months, so 44 drops a year.
- A3. Your own haul, per bin: tipping at $40 a ton for 2 tons ($80), a 30-mile round trip to the landfill at $0.90 a mile for fuel and truck wear ($27), 1.5 hours of your time or a helper's at $30 an hour ($45), and $15 set aside per haul for tarp, winch cable, and tires.
- A4. The trailer and bin payment, insurance, and registration are left out on purpose; you add them from our quote.
The math
- Renting: 44 drops x $450 = $19,800 a year.
- Self-hauling: $80 + $27 + $45 + $15 = $167 per haul; 44 hauls x $167 = $7,348 a year.
- Difference: $19,800 minus $7,348 = $12,452 a year before the trailer payment.
Payback. Divide our quote for a ROX and two bins by $12,452. If the answer lands inside the two-year bumper-to-bumper window, the trailer pays for itself while the factory still covers its components. At 2 drops a month the gap shrinks to $6,226 a year and the payback roughly doubles; that is where renting may still make sense.
The upside case. If the second bin rents to another crew for a week twice a month at $350 (assumption), that is $8,400 a year gross on top of the savings, minus the haul expense on each turn. That is how a contractor's trailer becomes a dumpster company.

Truck, weight, and the CDL line
Under the general federal rule, a Class A CDL comes into play when the combination is rated at 26,001 lb or more and the trailer is rated over 10,000 lb. A 14K ROX behind a truck rated around 10,000 lb stays under that line; behind a one-ton dually rated at 14,000 lb it crosses, and the RSX 21K crosses behind any pickup. Warranty and the Louisiana rust question
MAXX-D's 5-2 warranty on 2024 and later trailers covers "frame rails, tongue or neck, and cross-members" for five years and all other components, "including but not limited to ramps, railings, suspension, lights, and hydraulic dump cylinders," for two years, parts and labor. The structural coverage pays a declining share of replacement value, 70 percent in year one down to 30 percent in year five, and is not transferable. Batteries are one year; report defects to the dealer within five days.
Two lines matter more on a roll-off than on a dump. "Winch ropes" are on the wear-item list, so the cable that does all the work is yours to inspect and replace. And "corrosion, rust, UV exposure, saltwater" are excluded, which south of I-10 means the finish is your job: rinse after shell roads, keep the tarp on, drain the bins after rain, and touch up chips early.
