Rent-to-own, in plain words
Plenty of people who pull onto our lot need a trailer this week, not in two weeks. You pick a trailer, one of our two rent-to-own partners gives you a simple approval, you put down a low down payment (often just the first payment) and you take it home. Make your monthly payments and the trailer is yours, with an early buyout available any time.
Rent-to-own is not a loan. While you pay, the partner owns the trailer and you rent it with the right to own it at the end. The full FAQ lives on our rent-to-own page.
The two partners we run it through
We run rent-to-own through C3 Rentals and HMG; two partners means twice the chances we get you to yes. C3 Rentals is rent-to-own with a simple approval: take your trailer home on simple monthly payments, own it at the end, with early buyout available. HMG is our second lane: fast approvals, simple terms, and same-day take-home on in-stock trailers. Text us the trailer you want and we run it with both; each partner sets its own terms, and we go over yours line by line before you sign.
How it works, step by step
1. Pick a trailer
Every trailer on the lot qualifies, every category and every brand we stock, so start on our inventory page. The listed cash price is what the agreement is built from; prices are not in this post because they change with every truckload. Rent-to-own is available on every unit on coming soon too; text us and we will line up the paperwork before the truck lands.
2. Text us to start
Text 337-279-2620 with the trailer you want and the words "rent-to-own." To start, we only ask for basic contact info and the trailer you are interested in. No SSN is required to start.
3. Get the simple approval
We submit you to C3 Rentals or HMG; HMG's lane can be same-day on in-stock trailers. If the first partner passes, the second gets the application.
4. Sign, pay the first payment, hook up
Before you sign, we go through the payment amount, the due date, the length of the agreement and the early buyout with you. Then we hook the trailer to your truck and check your lights. Delivery is free within 50 miles of Lafayette, the same as on a cash sale.
5. Make your monthly payments
Payments go to the partner on the schedule in your agreement.
Who rent-to-own fits
- The trailer needs to start earning now. A boudin vendor with a festival slot and no enclosed trailer yet. It pays for itself while you pay for it.
- First trailer, no payment history yet. Rent-to-own does not need one; your payment history here builds your future.
- Turned down somewhere else. That is exactly who the rent-to-own lanes are for. Send it to us anyway.
- Storm season. After a hurricane, a 7x16 utility is the most useful thing you own, and nobody wants to wait on an approval with limbs in the yard.
Have the cash, or want the lowest monthly over the longest term? Bank financing wins, and we will tell you so.
Owning it at the end
Make every payment in your agreement and the trailer is yours: ownership transfers from the partner to you, and it is titled in your name like any trailer you bought outright. Finishing the payments is the purchase.
Early payoff
You are not locked in for the full term. Both partners offer an early buyout; ask us for the payoff figure any time, pay it, and the trailer is yours that day.
What to bring
Most of the application happens by text. At pick-up, this is what makes it a same-day trip:
- A valid driver's license
- Your phone; the application starts by text
- The truck you will tow with, so we can check the hitch, ball size and lights
- Your first payment; often that is all it takes to start
Leave your SSN at home; we never ask for it online. If a partner needs anything else at signing, we will tell you before you drive over.
Rent-to-own vs bank financing
We run both. Our bank lanes are Sheffield Financial and Octane; our rent-to-own lanes are C3 Rentals and HMG.

Which trailers qualify for rent-to-own? Every trailer on the lot qualifies — every category and every brand we stock: enclosed cargo, utility, dump, tilt, equipment, gooseneck, auto hauler and food trailers. What will my payment be? Every trailer is different, so we do not post rent-to-own payment numbers online. Tell us which trailer you want and we will show you real numbers before you commit.
Can I take the trailer home the same day? On in-stock trailers, yes; HMG offers same-day take-home, and we deliver free within 50 miles.
